Welcome to Creating What’s Next

You built something. A career, a company, a life that looks right from the outside. By every measure, you succeeded.

And still, on an ordinary Tuesday, you catch yourself asking: is this it?

Not misery. Not a breakdown. Something quieter. A sense of incomplete. The work got you here, and now the next chapter isn’t clearly drawn yet.

The world hands you three scripts for this moment. Wind down and coast. Hustle harder. Or get fixed, as if something broke. You’re none of those.

You carry decades of earned judgment and the scars to prove it. You're not done. You're not broken. The next chapter is not drawn yet, and drawing it is the work.

Here’s what I learned walking this myself.

I built a successful firm. I’ve been on my own since 2001. I looked around at everything the work had given me and realized I felt defined by it, and not satisfied with the definition. Somewhere along the way, I started believing the thing I built was all I was capable of.

I’ve had to create what’s next more than once. After the military. Starting my first search firm, then my second (and exiting both). Through a divorce. In building Career Attraction - an executive coaching business that served more than 17,000 clients. Each time, the answer was never a new structure. The answer was agency. The quiet, firm decisions we make about what’s in our control and what’s not.

Most of us spend our energy against circumstances. The shift is marshaling that energy toward the decisions only we own.

This newsletter is a field guide for the work. I share how I'm thinking, what I'm hearing from others walking the same ground, and the questions worth sitting with. The answer is yours to build, which is the only kind that holds.

You have everything you need. I help you tap into it.

Not up. Not down. A gear that’s your own.

In this with you, shoulder-to-shoulder.
